Heirarchy:
Clara Greenwick: Gaunt Anacreon
Clara is possibly London's oldest surviving wraith, having died in the
Great Plague. Regardless of whether she actually is or not, she still
pretty much rules over the Hierarchy of London with a firm hand. In theory,
each of the eight Anacreons has equal status. In practice, what Clara
says, goes. Despite her power and the huge workload her job must entail,
Clara is frequently seen out and about around the Citadel and Necropolis,
and is generally happy to chat. She looks to be a very short woman in
her late twenties, but her corpus is clearly marked with the signs of
her unpleasant death to the Plague.
Anacreon James Kingsley: Emerald Anacreon
In life, James Kingsley was politician and member of Government during
World War 2. In death, he continued his aspirations, rising through the
ranks of the Emerald Legion, and eventually achieving the position of
Anacreon. Anacreon Kingsley is most known for his universally grumpy demeanour
and absolute lack of a sense of humour. As such he is a frequent target
for Renegade pranks. Anacreon Kingsley can also occasionally be seen out
and about, but most generally try and stay out of his way. He looks to
be in his 50's with a greying receding hairline, and stern eyes.
The Grim Anacreon
The current Grim Anacreon has only recently taken up the post after the
previous one finally succumbed to Oblivion. The new Grim Anacreon has
only been seen in public a few times and always fully donned in the regalia
of mask and robes. As such, no one actually seems to know who this mysterious
figure is, or even whether it is male of female. Presumably the high-ups
in the Grim Legion must know, but they don't seem to be talking.
Marshall Rose Evans: Grim Legion
Marshall Evans is the public face of the Grim Legion. She has also taken
responsibility for regulating law and order throughout the Necropolis.
As such most people worry if they get summoned to her office. Marshall
Evans is an imposing figure, dressed in a full custom made set of Stygian
Steel platemail. She looks to be in her middle ages, and has short cut
brown hair. She is well-known for having a humourless and cold attitude
but generally considered to be fair.
Sir Robert McFadden: Doomslayer
Throughout the British Museum can be seen the results of Sir Robert's
activities when he was alive. A well-known Victorian explorer, hunter
and Egyptologist, he refused to let the mere matter of being killed by
an African elephant on a hunting expedition get in the way of his adventures.
Sir Robert has spent the last hundred years travelling through the whole
of the Underworld and into the Labyrinth itself. He is renowned throughout
the Empire as a particularly effective Doomslayer. He does, however, make
the occasional return to his home town of London, much to the delight
of the squealing crowds of younger female wraith fans who follow his exploits
with gleeful pleasure. His adventures are not so highly regarded by the
Hierarchy itself. Every time he leaves for the Tempest a book is opened
on whether he will actually return. So far he has proved the negative
punters wrong every time.
High Artificer Joseph Franklin
The High Artificer is an imposing figure occasionally seen in the Tower
and at St Pancras. In life, he was probably naturally tall, thin and cold.
In death he has used Moliation to enhance this effect, to the extent he
pretty much resembles any villain out of a Charles Dickens novel. His
tall, thin, bent shape is usually dressed in a long black coat, opera
cape and battered black top hat, from under which his overly long hooked
nose extends. His black eyes peer out at anyone who addresses him from
his wrinkled face, and the effect is enough to send shivers down anyone's
spine. The High Artificer is the master of his Forges, and doesn't like
anyone to forget it. His large team of apprentices are always in fear
of him, and stories abound of apprentices who made mistakes ending up
as material for the Forges themselves.
Renegades
Lucas: Death's Dragons
In life, Lucas was the young charismatic leader of London's largest street
gang. Fearless and proud, he thought there was no enemy that could ever
defeat him. He was wrong. After falling ill he eventually died to the
one thing he couldnt fight back against: Leukaemia. Naturally rebellious,
he immediately found a home within the Renegades, and gained a large amount
of respect from gangs all over the Necropolis. He now leads the Death's
Dragons: London's largest and most fearless Renegade gang. He maintains
his base from the Miraj Nightclub and plots all manner of trouble for
the Hierarchy. He has vowed he will not rest until he sees that corrupt
regime reduced to the tatters it deserves. So far all Hierarchy attempts
to apprehend him have ended in failure. Lucas is a very handsome black
man who looks to be in his early twenties. He has a completely bald head:
the only sign of the ravishing illness that is so far the only thing that
has defeated him.
The Lost Boys
This Renegade gang is composed almost entirely of teenage and child ghosts,
ranging in ages from 12-16. Most of them are enjoying the freedom presented
to them by being dead and away from their parents, and have rejected the
discipline and restrictions placed by the Hierarchy. On the whole, they
bear no real grudge against the Hierarchy other than seeing in it the
faces of authority, of their teachers and parents. Their main activities
involve trying to flout the Dictum Mortuum wherever possible, and generally
winding up the legionnaires whenever possible.
The Grey Ghost
No one knows who the Grey Ghost is. Few have seen him. Those that have
seen him have reported that he has Moliated his face completely away,
leaving a completely featureless grey man. The Grey Ghost is a vigilante,
believed to be behind the escape of several Hierarchy prisoners in recent
months, and the disappearance of various Hierarchy personnel. The Hierarchy
themselves appear to be baffled by the case, however a generous bounty
has been placed for information leading to his capture.
Others
The girl in the yellow dress
No one knows her name, but most know her by sight. The pretty girl wearing
the short yellow dress with the long dark hair and the smiling face has
been seen all over the Necropolis, both in Hierarchy and Renegade controlled
areas. Many have spoken with her, have even asked her name, but she has
just smiled and chatted but not answered. All comparisons of experiences
have reported her to be an extremely pleasant and friendly girl, and a
few wraiths of both genders are reported to have asked her for a date.
All such invitations have so far been politely declined.
Mama Jeanette
Mama Jeanette is an Oracle of great power who lives in a shack on an island
in the Tempest. She has declared complete neutrality to Stygian politics
and offers her service to all factions of the Dead alike. She is reported
to have had links to the Oracles Guild in the past, but severed herself
from them after some disagreement several decades ago. Rarely does she
stray into the Shadowlands except when she thinks it of vital importance
to do so. Recently she has been seen in London no fewer than three times.
Her skill at Fatalism is undisputed, although she is also reported to
be a proficient Pardoner as well. Mama Jeanette looks to be an extremely
large middle-aged black lady, however the first thing that most people
notice about her is her extremely strong Louisiana swamp accent that betrays
her origins.
Reverend Bexley Spencer
The Reverend Bexley has been causing much trouble for the Hierarchy recently
after rallying several Heretic cults together. Indeed he seems to have
achieved a lot and gained a lot of status amongst the Heretics for someone
who only died two years ago. In life he was a charismatic televangelist,
preaching to the elderly and gullible and raking in the proceeds. When
he was murdered in 2003, the case made national news, and triggered a
month of mourning amongst his followers. The murderer has yet to be caught
and the case is still open.
Morden
The Nephwrack known only as Morden has been plaguing the Necropolis of
London for several years. He claims to have an army of doppelgangers hidden
deep within both the Hierarchy and Renegade organisations, infiltrating
and reporting to him on everything that is taking place. Few know whether
to believe him, but paranoia in all factions is certainly at an all-time
high as a result. One thing is certain though. He is not working alone,
and his hordes of mortwights and striplings have attempted to invade the
necropolis several times.
The Living
Melliandra
The Dictum Mortum prohibits the Dead from trafficking with the Living.
Those wraiths who have encountered Melliandra wish fervently that there
were a law prohibiting the Living from trafficking with the Dead. Melliandra
looks to be in her early twenties and is a dedicated follower of the gothic
fashion. However, she is maybe just a little bit too short and dumpy,
and her hair naturally a little too frizzy to convincingly pull it off.
What she lacks as a Goth though she fully makes up for in her other interest.
Necromancy. Despite her young age, she appears to have picked up an outstanding
skill at the magic, enough to make even Giovanni vampires raise their
eyebrows in interest. Her experimentation is notorious, and mainly a hapless
wraith have found themselves under her spell. Melliandra is the only person
who has been known to clear Highgate Cemetery of all wraith presence quicker
than a spectre attack.
Andromeda
This company has only recently appeared, but seem to be doing very well
for themselves. Based in the Docklands Site near Canary Wharf, they ooze
status, professionalism and wealth. For Andromeda's business is to cryogenically
freeze their agents, projecting them into the Shadowlands, where they
can tackle haunting problems, industrial espionage and indeed anything
else that their clients desire. The cost for these services is extortionate,
and despite their professional demeanour, they are regarded by the Media
as being a bit of a joke. Nonetheless, they seem to be making a profit,
and all former clients have reported to be satisfied with the service.
Within the Underworld itself, very little is known about Andromeda at
this time, let alone whether they can actually turn themselves into wraiths.
Nonetheless, the company is being watched very closely by the Hierarchy,
and reports have allegedly been filed to the Deathlords in Stygia regarding
the potential threat.
Note: Andromeda is NOT Orpheus. Orpheus do not exist in this world.
However, Andromeda do bear a remarkable similarity to Orpheus in terms
of practices, outlook, aims and objectives. At this time, Andromeda agents
can not be played as PCs, however this MAY be reviewed in the future.
