Often dismissed or underestimated by the Nobility, the Commoner Kithain are the living heart of Changeling society. Troia would not survive without its large Commoner population. From the tales of the Eshu to the compassion of the Boggans, the valor of the Trolls or even the fury of the Redcaps, it is Commoners who keep the Dreaming alive. Rarely seen at the Court of Roses, the Commoners hold their own at Billy Blind’s, the cozy Freehold given over to their use. Some Commoners serve the Nobility loyally while others seek a world where Commoners rule. Most simply seek to pursue their dreams and battle the forces of Banality.
Baroness Hosanna
Baroness Hosanna is the most prominent Boggan in all of Roses and the highest ranking Commoner. However, she generally considers herself one of the Nobility rather than as a Commoner. More information on Hosanna can be found on the Nobles page.
Dame Gerd ni Beaumayn
Gerd is the most prominent Troll in Roses. She is a member of the Crystal Circle, the Seer of Roses and the Freeholder of Billy Blind’s. Despite her formal position, Gerd is unassuming and usually behaves as just another Troll. She puts on no heirs and makes sure to keep Billy Blind’s both safe and comfortable for all Commoners and, in fact, for all Fae who come in peace. Although she is sworn to the Queen and respectful of the Sidhe, she strictly forbids any Noble below the Queen herself to attempt to assert authority in her Freehold and the Sovereign Art is strictly banned there except in a life and death situation.
Aaron Goldbloom
Aaron is one of the most prominent Nockers in the city and is usually busy in the Balefire forge located below the Court of Roses. Aaraon makes sure that forge is strictly controlled by the Bes Din although he only takes an active part himself when there are no other Nockers about. Aaron is best known as a contact for those wishing to purchase items of the Dreaming not produced by any crafter in Troia. For a price, he can procure nearly any chimerical raw materials, Crafted Chimera, Forged Chimera, Treasure or even Companion. However, his prices are often high and sometimes take the form of favors rather than Dross. A gruff man who makes no pretense of objectivity, Aaraon charged Boggans more than Nockers and Sidhe of House Dougal more than either.
The Busybodies
Horatio Longbottom, Bill Blaster, Andy Wayweaver and Pippin Handcroft work hard in the Autumn World. They're old fashioned craftsmen and they take a lot of pride in their work. However, when the working day is done, these four Boggan Grumps gather at Billy Blind's to knock back a few drinks and talk. With these four Boggans, talk means gossip. The motley is especially fascinated by the doings at Court and, although they are rarely to be seen in either of the noble dominated Freeholds, they seem informed enough to endlessly discuss what goes on there. These Seelie Conservatives are generally supportive of the Sidhe, believing them to have liberated the land from the tyrannical King Albion. However, they also prefer the company of other Commoners, Boggans especially, and cluck their tongues at those who get too involved with the Shining Host, especially romantically. Despite this, they are willing to talk to just about anyone willing to share a pint with them and can be quite the useful source of gossip. |
